The class of 2023 at Alexandria Area High School (AAHS) saw 96.6% of its students graduate from high school, an increase of 3.8 percent over the 2022 rate. Alexandria Area High School students continue to have a four year graduation rate greater than their peers across the state. The statewide graduation rate for the class of 2023 was 83.3%.

There were 285 four-year graduates at AAHS in 2023, 6 seniors are continuing their education, 2 dropped out and 2 are unknown. Students who have individualized education plans (IEPs) can continue their education until they are 22 years old. 

A closer look at the class of 2023 data by student groups reveals students eligible for free or reduced meals four year graduation rate was 93.2% - an increase from 2022 and 21.3 percent above the 2023 statewide rate. In addition, special education students saw an increase of 18.3 percent in the four year graduation rate from 63.8% in 2022, to 82.1% in 2023.

The district continues to implement strategies to impact the graduation rate.  Strategies include a tiered intervention system for at-risk students, individualized credit recovery plans with affected students, and providing mental health support across the district.

“Our graduation rate continues to be high, exceeding the state graduation rate by 13.3 percent,” stated Darcy Josephson, Assistant Superintendent-Teaching & Learning. “Our staff continues to work hard to build relationships and implement the multi-tiered systems of support to meet the needs of all students.”
